The tech bit

The make-up of the photochromic* particles inside Transitions lenses changes according to various light conditions.

The Transitions lens reacts when outdoors (on exposure to UV light) and de-activates when indoors (or when the UV light is removed.

The molecules in the lenses activate in relation to the amount of light; for example - if you are in a shaded area, the lenses will react only slightly so that just enough light can enter the lens, allowing you to see clearly and giving you a comfortable view in any light condition.

*The reversible colour change which occurs upon exposure to UV light.
